Natal - o presépio das Necessidades - Christmas - a Nativity scene

O presépio está feito ha alguns dias já. Nada que se compare com este fantástico presépio barroco no Museu de Arte Antiga. Adoro os detalhes - não só as figuras humanas, mas todo o aspecto envolvente, a arquitectura, a vegetação, a natureza. Sempre que vou ao museu fico um bom bocado à procura de novos pormenores, que aparecem sempre! Feliz Natal para todos!

The Nativity scene at home was made a few days ago. Nothing similar to this amazing baroque Nativity scene on display at the National Museum of Ancient Art. I love the details - not only the human figures, but all the surrounding aspects, architecture, vegetation, nature. Everytime i visit the museum i spend a little while searching for nem aspects, which always apear! Merry Christmas everyone!

Who could imagine that the best days of summer would be in september and october? it's better now that during summer... strange but good days!

há festa na aldeia - party in the village

A aldeia esteve em festa estes últimos dias, e ontém foi o dia principal: Santo António de Lisboa. Festa à noite no arraial com direito a bandas de música, pipocas e farturas, fogo de artíficio. Uma bela noite!

The village has been celebrating these last days, and yesterday was the main event: Saint Anthony of Lisbon. Party including music bands, popcorn and sweets, fireworks. A lovely evening!

Várias pinturas e desenhos do Stanley Spencer estão incluidos num leilao na Sothebys nos próximos dias (a colecção Evil/Frost). É um pintor fantástico, e várias pinturas geniais estão incluidas nesta colecção. Aqui ficam apenas 3 (a minha preferida é a "Sunflower and dog worship"). A colecção inlclui ainda Graham Sutherland, Henry Moore, e Lucian Freud (dois belos desenhos dos anos 40) entre muitos outros.

Several paintings and drawings by Stanley Spencer are included in an auction at Sothebys these coming days (the Evil/Frost collection). He's an amazing painter, and several great paintings are included in this collection. Here are just 3 ("Sunflower and dog worship" is the one i most admire). The collection also includes works by Graham Sutherland, Henry Moore, Lucian Freud (two beautiful drawings from the 40's) among many others.

o palacio quase em ruinas - the almost ruined palace

Um palacio no bairro alto (Palácio do Marquês de Pombal), que agora é usado para exposições de arte contemporânea. Muitos azulejos, estuques, frescos antigos. Um jardim (bem, um páteo) com um tanque no meio em pedra. O jardim bem que precisava de plantas. posso dar uma ajuda??

O jardim da Fundação Gulbenkian é capaz de ser o mais bonito de Lisboa, e é um dos meus preferidos. É optimo passar por la depois de uma visita à biblioteca ou aos museus /exposições. Nesta manhã estava muito frio. O jardim estava quase vazio, calmo, quase só habitado pelos patos e pássaros, pelas árvores e plantas, pela água e pelas esculturas. A escultura da senhora que parece saltar para agarrar o pato é da Germaine Richier ("La grande sauterelle"). Está perfeito o seu enquadramento no pequeno tanque de água, meio escondida nos juncos, surpreendendo-nos quando menos esperamos. É a minha escultura preferida no parque.

The Calouste Gulbekian garden is probably the most beautiful in Lisbon, and it's one of my favourites. It's great to walk around after a visit to the library or to te museums / exhibitions. This morning was very cold. The garden was almost empty, quiet, almost only ocupied by the ducks and birds, the trees and the plants, the water and the sculptures. The sculture of the lady that seems to jump to catch the duck is by Germaine Richier ("La grande sauterelle"). It's framing it's perfect with the small water tank, half hidden by the reeds, surprising us when we less expect. It's my favourite sculture in the park.
